It all started with a cup of coffee and a dream.

One chilly afternoon in Ohio, we sat by a fireplace, coffee in hand, dreaming of something bigger—a place where people could gather, connect, and find comfort. A place that felt like home.

Aviation has always been part of our story. Scott, a pilot, and I, a former flight attendant, met on an airplane—love at first sight at 35,000 feet. Twenty years later, our journey together has taken us across the skies and now, to something even more meaningful: The Beacon.

More than just a coffee trailer, The Beacon was built to be a light in the community—a place of warmth, welcome, and encouragement. But the road here wasn’t easy. From a failed first build to my battle with Stage IV cancer, there were moments when giving up seemed like the only option. But we knew that light shines brightest in the darkest places, and we weren’t going to let the dream die.

Today, you’ll find The Beacon serving handcrafted coffee across Gaston County—at the corner of Union & Robinson Road, local events, schools, and businesses. Wherever we go, our mission is the same: to create a space where people feel seen, valued, and uplifted.
